Riviera Nayarit Summer Rains Make Chacala Mexico Vibrant Green Jungle

Where is the world is this, but Chacala, although you might feel that you are in the midst of the Amazon or perhaps in Ireland during the summer (minus the palms, of course), and not on the Riviera Nayarit in Mexico!
Almost like magic, and only part way through the summer, the rains that break the silence of the nights present us with amazing, vibrant and glistening green jungle. With the winters that bring the gradual descent of the foliage, we almost forget what’s laying in hiding, and in anticipation of the onslaught of humidity and rainfalls.

The Dry Jungle and Land Crab Theory
Chacala Mexico is surrounded by what is called a “dry jungle”. The characteristics that give this term refers to the ability to “hang in there” throughout a full 7 or 8 months without ever seeing a drop of rain! Suddenly, even after the first appearance of the first pings of rainfall, we are presented with a burst of green life desperate to show off it’s beauty and spread their vines as quickly as a movie in fast forward! Chacala is truly an amazing location as the ocean meets the amazing jungle, and its called the Riviera Nayarit!

So, now we return to the topic of the “land crab” theory. If you have pieced this together from the previous article, you will have answered the question of their purpose. These creatures work in aide of the jungles all summer long, forging millions of holes into the ground in order to capture all the water required to “see it through” the long, dry, rainless months ahead. This is why you will see these crabs working furiously and in packs of hundreds far into the jungle. “LAND CRABS” mark their place in the scheme of things, after all – like ‘em or not!!!
